The Thai name for Vaiśravaṇa (Kubera in Hinduism), one of the Four Heavenly Kings in Buddhism. He is the guardian of the northern direction and ruler of the yakshas. In Thai belief, he is highly revered as a powerful protector against demons and evil spirits, as well as a god of wealth and fortune.
