In Thai astrology and mythology, Rahu is a 'shadow planet' (not a physical planet). It is a demon-like figure said to cause eclipses by swallowing the sun or moon, and is counted as one of the nine astrological planets (นพเคราะห์นพเคราะห์nóp-khráonine celestial bodies).
